A laptop is a mobile version of a desktop or tower, or a mobile personal computer, also called a notebook. A computer is an electronic device for storing and processing data. A laptop has many components such as central processing unit (CPU), Memory (RAM), Power supply, and internal storage. There are different classes of laptops such as desktop replacement, midsize, ultraportable, thin-and-light, and tablet PC (authority). Within each class of laptop there are different types such as gaming laptops, general purpose laptops, business laptops, and media center laptops. A laptop is used for many things such as business, gaming, media, and much more.
A computer is an electronic device that uses binary form to store and process data.
A computer has multiple components, some of which are the arithmetic logic unit (ALU), the control unit, the memory, the power supply, internal storage, and the input and output devices such as keyboard or printer. These components are all connected by buses. Inside of each component are many tiny electrical circuits which can be turned on and off. Each circuit symbolizes a bit. When the circuit is on it symbolizes a 1 and when it is off it symbolizes a 0. The arithmetic logic unit performs two types of operations, arithmetic and logic. The control unit reads and decodes the program instructions into binary to communicate with other parts of the computer. A computers main memory is random access memory (RAM). Random access memory is temporary storage which holds both data and instructions while they are being processed. The power supply for a laptop takes alternating current (AC) and turns it into direct current (DC) (Guide). Internal storage in a computer is either a hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD). Laptop HDD are 2.5 or 1.8 inches (Guide). The main input devices are keyboards and mice. The main output devices are a monitor and a printer.
There are various classes of laptops such as desktop replacement, midsize, thin-and-light, ultra-portable, and tablet PC. An ultraportable laptop is a small and light laptop. Generally it weighs four pounds or less. An ultraportable laptop is very compact. Ultraportable laptops have smaller screens, and keyboards to fit in a smaller case. The most common ultraportable laptop is a netbook which is used mainly for just web browsing. A midsize laptop is for basic everyday use. They weigh six to 8 pounds. Thin-and-light is a combination of the midsize and the ultraportable laptop. Thin-and-light weighs four to six pounds. A desktop replacement is the largest type of laptop. It is the most like to a desktop or a tower, it weighs seven pounds or more. This type of laptop generally does not leave the house and is used for room to room needs (cnet). A tablet PC is the most mobile and compact type of laptop. A tablet PC has a very long battery life.
A laptop is a computer that has different types within each class such as gaming laptops, general purpose laptops, business laptops, and media center laptops (pcmag). A media center laptop is like an entertainment center. It has television, music, videos, and photos. A gaming laptop, as its name depicts, is for gaming. A gaming computer has a large screen and high specs. A general purpose laptop is decent at everything; It can play games, movies, or even be used to just browse the web. A business laptop is a durable laptop with features depending upon what your job requires. It will have more security features such as facial recognition, finger print scanners, or even voice recognition.
A laptop is a scaled down mobile version of a desktop or tower computer with multiple classes. A computer is a device that uses binary to store and process data. A computer has many components such as the arithmetic logic unit (ALU), the control unit, the memory, the power supply, the internal storage, and the input and output devices. A laptop is a computer with many different types inside of each class. Some of the most popular types are gaming laptops, business laptops, media laptops, and general use laptops. A laptop computer ranges in price from $100-$6000
